The Horse Arenas
At Berkshire Equestrian Center riders have the opportunity to use three Riding Arenas and an Outdoor Jump Field.
The Scott Indoor Arena
Completed in 2007, the Scott Indoor Arena enables equestrians of all ages to participate in lessons year round. The state of the art facility with Euro felt footing and radiant heat, measuring 80′x 200′, serves as a wonderful haven for riders of all ages during the cold winter months, inclement weather or after the sun sets. The bi-level viewing lounges allow for family, friends and coaches to watch the action without disturbing the horse/rider relationship.
Adjacent to the arena is a flexible building used for celebrations, corporate meetings, training sessions, horse shows and clinics. The second floor offers an open space adaptable to the needs of renters. The space can accommodate 8 to 30 people depending on client needs and set up. Two break-out rooms and a kitchen for catered meals are also available.
The second floor is also home to a spa used by guests of The Inn at Richmond and clients of Berkshire Equestrian Center. The spa consists of a Massage Room, dual shower/steam room, whirlpool tub and facilities to provide various spa treatments. Advance reservations are required for spa services. A private deck is just off the spa area allowing guests to further decompress with the warmth of the sun, fresh country air and pastoral views.
The Morgan Indoor Arena
Historically one of the preeminent Morgan training facilities, this barn measures 44′ x 140′ and is regularly used for lunging. It is also home to Berkshire HorseWorks’ EAGALA Model Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning workshops.
The Miles Outdoor Riding Arena
The Miles Outdoor Riding Arena with shaded viewing area and Judge’s Stand is the perfect space for riders to hone their walk/ trot/ canter, dressage, and jumping skills. Measuring 150′x250′ and featuring Eurofelt footing, “The Miles” is located contiguous to The Scott Indoor Riding Arena and directly behind the Shaker Barn. It is home to many competitive equestrian events and lessons.
Outdoor Jump Field
The Outdoor Jump Field, designed by our trainer Ken Whelihan, offers riders another option for developing skills showing on grass.
